International Left Hander's Day

Every year on August 13 it is International Left Hander's Day. Left Hander's Day was first observed in 1976. Since only about 7 to 10 percent of the world's population are left-handed, International Left Hander's Day was created to raise awareness of the everyday issues that lefties face as the majority of the population is right hand dominate.

We are lucky enough to have several lefties here at Phenix Technology, Inc.

Laser tattoo removal doesn't erase your tattoos. It breaks down the ink particles so your white blood cells can carry them to your liver. Basically, you end up pooping out your old tattoo.

Safety Topic: Brush, Grass, and Forest Fires

On average, local fire departments responded to 334,200 brush, grass, and forest fires per year, or about 915 of these fires a day. In terms of property loss, 9 of the 25 costliest fires in United States history were described as forest, wildland, or wildland/urban interface fires.
The leading causes of brush, grass, and forest fires are:
  • intentional (20%)
  • hot embers or ashes (16%)
  • outside fires for debris or waste disposal (14%)
  • high wind (14%)
  • smoking materials (11%)
  • playing with heat source (5%)
  • fireworks (4%)
  • lightning (4%)
  • spark, ember, or flame from operating equipment and electrical power or utility lines (4%)
We all have the power to help prevent these fires. Here are some simple guidelines of steps that you can take to help prevent brush, grass, and forest fires:
  • Ensure all smoking materials are properly disposed of in fire-resistant containers. If possible, provide metal containers for cigarette disposal to help prevent cigarette butts from being disposed of on the ground.
  • Avoid outside fires on dry or windy days.
  • Leave fireworks to the professionals.
  • Keep matches and lighters away from children.
  • Keep plants that burn fast and hot away from your home. Get rid of dead branches, leaves, brush, and tree limbs that hang over your home.
