SHIPPING COORDINATOR

SHIFT: Monday - Thursday 7 AM - 5:30 PM

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute comprehensive examination of import and export documentation including commercial invoices, international bills of lading, and related shipping documents while ensuring compliance with international and U.S. laws related to import and export activity
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with all distributors, freight forwarders, third party logistics providers, customers, and work closely with manufacturing., purchasing, supply chain, and the international sales team
  • Manage and monitor all shipments: outgoing and inbound, domestic and international
  • Train and manage subordinates in all phases of international operations
  • Maintain database for tracking shipments and all related costs at the item level detail
  • Review and approve invoices for import and export shipments
  • Maintain knowledge of all US government import and export requirements
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual transportation expense budget
  • Maintain tracking and reporting variances of transportation budget versus actual expenses
  • Communicate with US customs and foreign agents for shipment coordination
  • Following changes in import regulations and implementing operational changes as required
  • Quality inspection and authorizing products to ship
  • Coordination of travel and logistic support for international and domestic trade shows
  • Perform other assignments as necessary and directed by management

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to provide updates to upper management
    • Engaged in your own personal and professional development
    • Accurate and attentive to detail with excellent documentation skills
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Must have a deep awareness and appreciation of different cultures
    • Minimum 2 years domestic and international shipping experience
    • Familiarity with industry-standard shipping solutions, services, and best practices
    • Mastery of Microsoft Office

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Knowledge and/or experience in international ocean shipments, import and export with a solid understanding of Incoterms, harmonized tariff system, ITAR/EAR, schedule B classification, and FTA’s
    • 3-5 years minimum experience in international transportation, compliance and commerce, or a combination of education and applicable experience equivalent to above requirements
    • Prior industry experience with manufacturing of safety equipment or related business
    • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing principals/5S/8 Deadly Wastes
    • The ability to work independently and meet goals autonomously
