Bring experience as a knowledgeable professional to drive anthropology style analysis, critical thought, design, and project execution
Serve as a mentor and senior member of an engineering team that may include 1-2 student interns
Develop effective project plans to include engineering tasks, tollgates, and well-defined timelines
Use critical thinking and creative problem-solving, data driven, root cause analysis skills to identify and implement effective solutions
Engage in industry regulation and guideline committees to provide feedback and enhance up to date adherence to required standards
Lead the development of internal testing capabilities and SOP development for research and development and quality assurance purposes
Be keenly aware of relevant emerging technologies and materials
Balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking
Create new products, that meet the voice of our customer, while keeping in line with the required safety standards, features, functions, and cost specifications
Manage industry and regulation driven requirements for improvements on long-established product lines
Deliver excellence in engineering with minimal direct supervision
Communicate project updates to Executive team
Ensure new products are designed to be produced efficiently and without significant negative impact to production
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering degree
5+ years of permanent engineering experience
Familiarity with polymers, plastics processing, injection and compression molding
Experience with fast fabrication of a physical part, model or assembly using 3D computer aided design (preferably Solidworks)
Experience with scientific methods of testing and calibration
Strong familiarity with root cause analysis
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google productivity and collaboration tools
Self-motivated, practical, results oriented with a high level of integrity and professionalism
Flexible, comfortable with change, and able to maintain a positive and infectious attitude
Written and verbal communication-the ability to talk to others and convey information effectively
Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent prioritization and time management skills
IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer
Experience in Solidworks plastics and 3D modeling
Experience with engineering drawings
Expertise in injection molded plastic component development
Experience in helmet or firefighting equipment design
Experience conducting physical testing and sample evaluation (NFPA, ANSI, ASTM)
Experiencing conducting effective needs analysis with end users
Experience with FEA and mold flow simulations
Packaging and manipulation of complicated assemblies
Experience with FMEA or other risk assessment tools
Experience leading or managing teams
Solid understanding of Lean principals and/or Six Sigma
