FULL TIME EXEMPT
SHIFT: Monday - Thursday 7 AM - 5:30 PM (schedule may vary as needed) 
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Minimal Travel (less than 25%)
RELOCATION: Not Paid
LOCATION: In office - Riverside, CA (not remote)
CLOSING DATE: Open until filled

COMPENSATION: $85,000-$120,000 annually (DOE)

The Mechanical Engineer role involves contributing to the development of innovative products and tools that support the company’s strategic goals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop effective project plans to include engineering milestones, tasks, tollgates, and well-defined timelines.
  • Conduct engineering analysis, including initial and outgoing design reviews, FEA, material selection, and tolerance studies.
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.
  • submit a scope of work for each project that includes budgetary numbers and the goal of each project.
  • Create, maintain, and review detailed engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and test reports.
  • Develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of internal projects.
  • Lead prototyping, testing, and evaluations of theoretical designs.
  • Drive anthropology-style analysis, critical thought, design, and project execution.
  • Ensure products can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating conditions and environments.
  • Use research, analytical, conceptual, and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling and computer-aided design.
  • Serve as a mentor to an engineering team.
  • support continuous improvement initiatives and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Stay current with industry standards, safety regulations, and emerging technologies.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or similar engineering degree.
  • 5+ years of permanent engineering experience.
  • Familiarity with polymers, plastics processing, injection, and compression molding.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, Creo Simulate, or similar).
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (MATLAB, Excel, LabVIEW, etc.)
  • Creativity and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to provide updates to upper management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Accurate and attentive to detail with excellent documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently and meet goals autonomously.

    IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
    • Experience in helmet or firefighting equipment design.
    • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering.
    • Licensed Professional Engineer.
    • Expertise in injection molded plastic component development.
    • Hands on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM).
    • Meticulous attention to detail.
    • High level of integrity and professionalism.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Experience leading a team.
    • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing (Five principles, deadly wastes, 5S).

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While performing the duties of this job, incumbents may be required to do the following:

    • Frequently required to sit, walk, and talk or hear.
    • Use of hands to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
    • Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Vision should be correctable to accurately read small font writing.
